Chainsaw Man Characters
Here on the page about Chainsaw Man characters we present to you which characters are capable of making contracts with devils, the devils themselves, and in order of rank and those preferred by the public.
History of the anime “Chainsaw Man”
First we have to focus on the protagonist named Denji, who later plays an important role and who, in the company of Pochita (his devil who allowed him to use his power), will later become the center of attention.
We have the protagonist appearing as someone who has never studied, has never been able to stabilize himself in a chaotic world with rules that changed because of the so-called devils and the devil hunters who are in charge of eliminating them and keeping the earth safe.
The first season shows us the protagonist trying to survive in a world where getting food and a roof over your head is harder than finding a job if you don’t have learned skills.
He meets a very Kawaii chainsaw-shaped devil who accompanies him in his hard loneliness, without money and without much to eat, they create an unbreakable bond that makes them want to stay together for life.
After having a very hard childhood and adolescence, he ends up being saved, or rather captured, by Makima who sought to get on his good side to take over his chainsaw power, and who is also responsible for causing so much damage to the protagonist to the point of making Pochita take control to protect him at any cost.
Why does Pochita take control of Denji?
The protagonist ends up being cruelly crushed in terms of his feelings, a plan by Makima to manage to take over his power but she didn’t count on Pochita coming out and giving a fighting lesson to her devils manipulated by her which, well, all the fans went crazy with the fight.
Chaotic World: Chainsaw Man
Why is Chainsaw Man a chaotic world? Well, we say so because with the appearance of different devils that are specifically based on people’s fear, for example, one of the most powerful devils is the Gun Devil, who was capable of causing a catastrophe in Japan and is precisely a strong devil due to the great fear that people have of weapons as such.
It is worth noting that: “People do manage to see the devils and the chaos they cause in their wake, a difference that does not happen in Jujutsu Kaisen for example, where there, if the veil that hides what is inside is lifted, people will pass by and see nothing, but here in Chainsaw Man it does happen no matter what they do, people will see them”.

Why is it called Chainsaw Man
It is called that exactly because of Denji and Pochita, who upon making a contract after Denji almost died, Pochita saving his life in exchange for allowing him to be by his side and see how he fulfills all the dreams he told him about when they were alone, fun fact: “Pochita doesn’t speak with Denji, but rather barks like a dog, he speaks until later where they make the contract and he tells him that he will take his body, but rather he will give him his powers and save him from death”.
A persecuted being, a powerful being capable of facing many devils at once but this only when Pochita takes control. He is also a being that upon eliminating a devil eliminates it completely as if it had never existed in the world and it is difficult for it to reappear, thus managing to have one of the most broken powers (not for nothing is he the protagonist haha).
And that is why the anime is called Chainsaw Man!
Delving into the plot
Our protagonist goes through events that corrupt him and hurt him in more than one sense, important losses for him, confrontations that leave him on the brink of death and his very bad luck finding the love of his life. It seems that great power comes with great responsibility and a great price to pay, but not all is lost.
Denji manages to have his moments of happiness, something that will make him understand that it is possible to be happy, even for someone like him.
When did the Chainsaw Man anime premiere?
The story of Chainsaw Man was born from the imagination of Tatsuki Fujimoto, who launched the manga in late 2018. From that first chapter, the series caught attention for its raw style, dark humor, and a very particular way of exploring human pain and desires, unique characters, and a world very chaotic compared to real life, full of action.
The evolution of the manga
The first part of the manga began publishing on December 3, 2018 and continued until December 2020, at which point it closed its first major arc. Shortly after, Fujimoto resumed the story with a second part that started on July 13, 2022, this time from the digital platform Shōnen Jump+.
Even before becoming a global phenomenon, its first collected volume had already been released, published on March 4, 2019.
The leap to anime for Chainsaw Man
With growing public interest, the project reached studio MAPPA, responsible for turning the work into an anime. The first season premiered in October 2022 and ended in December of the same year, presenting a faithful and visually stunning adaptation that ended up cementing the series within popular culture. In the US, it can be watched on platforms like Crunchyroll and Hulu.
Expansion to cinema, In style!
After the success of the anime, the story continued not with a second season, but with a movie: Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc.
